USS NASSAU makes a port call

The USS Nassau (LHA-4) amphibious assault ship, built in 1979.

The ship came in and tied up right next to The USS Intrepid at Pier 86. They gave free tours of the ship and all sorts of demonstrations and showed off some of what she is made of and who operates her. It was open to the public for a couple days and this what we saw and who we met onboard. She had a lot of cool planes and helicopters on the flight deck that we were able to actually climb inside of and check out. We went below decks and saw the amphibious landing craft and a lot of interesting compartments of the ship, including the sickbay.
